Autumn’s Trees

IMG_0985From a horizon of richness and vivacity they extend against a moving backdrop. Faithful soldiers, standing strong, they consistently fulfill their duties, that we so desperately depend on. Each limb reaches out for breath, unprotected, vulnerable, a child fresh from the womb. Working to rid the world of pollutants that dilute our blood, they exude only life in its purest form. They stand naked now in a frigid fire, flickering with fear. Colorful teardrops trickle to their toes but they do not look down. Steadfast in their strength they wait for the white blanket to whistle them to sleep, knowing that when they wake once more they must do it all again. Their rigid roots bind them to this lane of everlasting labor. The ceaseless cycle refuses to relent.
